As I have really been geting into the scuba thing (the admiral thinks that it is just another excuse to be spending more time in the boat), I really needed some way of securing a couple of scuba tanks in my Trophy 1802.

I just did not like the idea of throwing tanks in the V-berth or having them banging around on deck. In addition, I wanted to be able to secure my set-up my scuba gear (tank, regs and BCD) to the holder for the first dive of the day while still at the dock, in order to save a bit a time upon arrival at the dive site (or when moving between dive sites).

Here are a few pictures of a simple tank holder prototype I made out of some pressure treated lumber and a couple of pieces of 8" PVC waste pipe that I salvaged from a local construction site. If this works out well, I am considering making the unit in fibregalss.

It simply fits on over the factory rod holder on the front side of the motor well. It can be removed easily when not being used.

I also installed a couple of stainless steel straps (thru bolted with backing plates, of course) in order to allow a rope to be secured around the tanks.

It is pretty functional, doesn't take up much space, and does not interfere with the removeable jump seats on each side of the motor well.
