During the first two seasons after I purchased my Trophy 1802, I used a RAM brand mount for my Garmin GPS at the helm. These RAM mounts are great, and in my opinion, the best available. Great quality construction, very adjustable, and makes it easy to detach the GPS cradle from the dash mounted ball unit when leaving the boat at the dock.
As I had the external power cable for this Garmin GPS, I connected it to the 12 V power outlet I had previously installed at the helm.
Prior to the start of the 2010 season, I replaced this GPS with a fishfinder/GPS combo. I have maintained this GPS as a backup in the boat in my emergency ditch kit.
Due to the functionality of the RAM mount, I am sure that I will find some other use for it somewhere on the boat......or elsewhere.
