As the V-berth on the 1802 only had one light mounted on the ceiling of the cabin, I wanted to add some sort of adjustable light.
I was not really content with the original set-up on the wall mounted cabinet. Thus, I decided to make a modification to remove the small switch for the heater (as it was not really required as the heater had its' own on/off switch), and replace it with a goose neck chart light that I purchased from my local marine supplier.
The light contains a small 40 watt halogen spot bulb and has an on/off switch on the head. In addition, it is very adjustable due to the 18 ' flexible goose neck and as the head swivels 180 degrees and tilts 90 degrees.
It works great as a reading lamp or to focus some light on the cabin table without lighting up the entire cabin.
I think the black colour really fits well with the black 12 V power outlet just to the left of the base of the light and the black trim on the combination barometer, hydro, and temperature unit.
